Italian Happy Hour

Amy Riolo

Class Type

May 5 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Take happy hour to the kitchen, Italian-style. Bring a friend, date or family member to relax and learn something new.

Appetizers also go hand in hand with the afternoon aperitivo, or aperitif, which comes from the Latin aperire, meaning “to open.” The aperitivo is to many Italians what happy hour is to Americans. You can meet friends in a bar or enoteca for an aperitivo—to have drinks and appetizers. During these occasions, a wide array of appetizers would be served with the drinks after work and prior to dinner. Among the most popular aperitivo drinks are the Aperol Spritz and the Bellini. While Milan is known for the most fashionable aperitivi, Venice is home to some of the most famous. The Venetians even have their own blend of appetizers called cicchetti, or small plates similar to Spanish tapas, specifically for the occasion

Marinated Mozzarella; Lemon-Scented Shrimp; Ricotta, Grilled Eggplant, and Fresh Mint Bruschetta; Southern Italian Fava Bean Puree with Traditional Crackers; Chocolate Covered Strawberries
